Tulsa 9.12 Project December Meeting

meeting1.gifKevin Crow will conclude his "History of Politics" series. This month he will be speaking on, "The connection between the Revolutions of 1848 and the American Civil War."

Abraham Lincoln has been credited with the creation of the American Propositional Nation - that is, the notion that America is unitary nation created by, and dedicated to, the proposition that "all men are created equal." For this reason, Lincoln has been lionized, and almost deified, by most of the political establishment of this country. This presentation will examine Lincoln's concept of the United States as a propositional nation in its historical context. In particular, this presentation will examine the connections between the European Revolutions of 1848 and the American Civil War.
